Get answers to common questions about Hair Henna.
Henna's tint gradually fades over 4–8 weeks depending on hair porosity, washing frequency, and sun exposure. Unlike chemical dyes, touch-ups refresh color; repeated applications can deepen shade and extend longevity.
Henna can cover many gray hairs well, especially with repeated applications and warmer mixtures. Coverage varies by hair texture and gray density; full, immediate coverage may be less predictable than synthetic dyes, so consultation and strand testing are recommended.
Wait at least 24 to 48 hours before shampooing to allow henna to fully stain and set. For deeper color and conditioning benefits, many stylists recommend avoiding heavy washing for 48 hours and using sulfate-free products thereafter.
Combining henna with synthetic dyes can produce unpredictable color results and reactions. We recommend a consultation and strand test when hair has previous chemical treatments. In some cases, waiting several weeks after bleaching or dyeing is advised before applying henna.
Henna forms a protective coating that can add slight weight and texture, especially on fine hair. Many clients notice increased thickness and shine rather than heaviness; we tailor application and rinse methods to avoid buildup and maintain natural movement.
For maintenance, many clients book henna every 6–8 weeks. Frequency depends on desired color intensity, hair growth rate, and condition. Lighter touches or conditioning-only sessions can be done more frequently to maintain shine and strength without drastically changing shade.
